species of amphipod found in and around the Marine Discovery Centre are:

- Caprella sp. - Caprellid Amphipod
- (Edgar, 1997)

- Habitat: Reef, 0 - 100 m depth
- Distribution: More than 150 species known worldwide, at
least 20 in Australian waters.
- Maximum size: Length to 20 mm
- Diet: Algae

- Talorchestia sp. - Amphipod
- (Edgar, 1997)
|
- Habitat: Exposed beach, high intertidal zone
- Distribution: Victoria and around Tasmania
- Maximum size: Length to 15 mm
- Diet: Drifting and rotting seaweed
- Comments:
- These amphipods move by hopping and can be found
on the beach by turning over rotting pieces of seaweed.
