Phylum Bryozoa

Introduced Species

Bryozoans are a colony of tiny animals, which can grow up to 1 m across. There are well over 1000 species, most of which occur attached to hard substrates, including wood pylons and the bottom of boats! Colonies can be brightly coloured and be encrusting, flat, plant-like or coral-like. The most common bryozoan found around the Marine Discovery Centre is the Lace Bryozoan.
