|
- Latris
lineata
- Stripey Trumpeter
- (Edgar,
1997)
|
- Habitat:
Exposed reef; 0 – 300 m depth
- Distribution:
WA to NSW and around Tasmania (also NZ)
- Maximum
Size: Length
to 1.2 m
- Diet:
Small invertebrates
- Comments:
- Pointed snout and olive green stripes along the
upper sides of the body. This was once the most commonly caught
species around Tasmania but during the past half century the
population has been almost eliminated from shallow water.
Species now found primarily in deep water or along remote
sections of the southern and western Tasmanian coasts.
Considered one of the best eating fish.
