Factors to consider
Pathway
Planning at Woodbridge
All students in grade
8, 9 and 10 will be working with Pathway Panning Officers in 2007. In grade
10 there is a program for students to learn about pathways to work,
undertake work experience and participate in interview simulations.
Parents and students
are encouraged to plan backwards from the questions:
What do I want to
do in the future? What do I need to study to get there?
This exercise is
useful and the Job Guide 2007 at jobguide.dest.au has the
latest information on pre-requisite subjects and courses to study for every
occupation in Australia. Please visit the school if you would like to
borrow and use a Job Guide CD.
Year 11/12
In years 9 and 10,
courses are offered which lead on to those that can be taken at College
(years 11 and 12).
In some cases there
are important pre-requisites that should be completed in year 10. For
instance, if a student wishes to study subjects at pre-tertiary level in
year 11 they would need to have successfully completed a year 10 program at
the highest standard.
Students are also able
to study new courses at the most challenging level at
College and also have access to vocational
training courses.
Our linked College is
Hobart College. For those students who wish to examine pathways to year 11
and 12 more closely, subject co-ordinators can offer advice. The Hobart
College Handbook is also available at school for interested parents and
students. |
